This photograph was taken along Nobbys Breakwall in Newcastle, NSW. You can see the suburb of Stockton in the distance, and beyond, the open ocean. Often when I go back to Newcastle dolphins are playing in the shallows of the harbour, following the wall on their way back out to sea. It is amazing how quickly a sense of desolation creeps up on you as you walk towards the end of the Breakwall, where massive squares of rock balance as though in a kid’s game of blocks.
